The Raid’s Iko Uwais Will Play the Villain in The Expendables 4

by nerdyminutes

Deadline reports that Iko Uwais has joined the cast of The Expendables 4 as the film’s primary villain.

While the film’s release date has not been announced, the fourth entry in the series that unites the biggest action stars of the ’80s, ’90s and 2000s was confirmed in August. Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham will lead the ensemble cast of elite mercenaries, which also includes Megan Fox, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Tony Jaa.

While not much is known about the new film’s plot, Uwais will be playing an ex-military arms dealer who has assembled his own army. The Indonesian actor and martial artist first gained fame by starring in The Raid and has since appeared in Netflix’s Wu Assassins, the G.I. Joe spinoff Snake Eyes and the action comedy Stuber. He is also attached to star in The Bellhop, which is being developed by Stallone’s new production company, Balboa Prods.

The last Expendables movie was released in 2014 to disappointing ticket sales, but Stallone has been making it clear since 2018 that he wanted to return to the franchise.

The Expendables 4 will be directed by stuntman Scott Waugh with a script from Spenser Cohen, who co-wrote the Netflix disaster flick Moonfall, which releases on February 4, 2022.
